Este año, la producción de caña de azúcar en Brasil experimentará una caída de 10,6 % en relación con la cosecha registrada en la temporada anterior, como efecto de condiciones climáticas adversas.
Según señaló este miércoles la Compañía Nacional de Abastecimiento (Conab), se estima que la zafra 2021-2022 será de 585,2 millones de toneladas. El ente explicó que la combinación de intensas sequías y bajas temperaturas registradas en junio y julio de 2021, así como heladas ocasionales, tuvieron un impacto negativo en importantes regiones productoras. Esas condiciones obligaron a adelantar las cosechas de algunos cultivos, lo que también influyó en la disminución de la producción.
A nivel mundial, Brasil es actualmente el mayor productor y exportador de caña de azúcar y productos relacionados.
