El parlamento alemán conmemorará por primera vez el año que viene a las víctimas del régimen nazi que fueron perseguidas y asesinadas por su identidad sexual o de género, dijo el viernes la presidenta del Bundestag.
El 27 de enero, Día Internacional de la Memoria del Holocausto, los diputados alemanes pondrán a esas víctimas «en el centro de la ceremonia de conmemoración», declaró Baerbel Bas al diario alemán Tagesspiegel.
Desde 1996, Alemania celebra oficialmente el Día de la Memoria del Holocausto cada 27 de enero, con una ceremonia solemne en el Bundestag que incluye un discurso de un superviviente y conmemoraciones en todo el país.
«Lamentablemente no quedan supervivientes» para el memorial a las víctimas LGTB, dijo Bas, y añadió que las autoridades parlamentarias estaban en conversaciones con la Federación de Lesbianas y Gays de Alemania (LSVD).
Los activistas han trabajado durante años para establecer una conmemoración parlamentaria oficial de las víctimas nazis que fueron perseguidas por su identidad sexual o de género.
«Estas víctimas aún no tienen su propio memorial», dijo Henny Engels, miembro de la junta directiva de la LSVD.
«Para extraer las lecciones adecuadas de todas sus diferentes facetas, la historia debe mantenerse viva de forma exhaustiva», añadió.
