Un total de 68 personas fueron ingresadas ayer en centros y unidades de tratamiento del cólera establecidos por Médicos Sin Fronteras (MSF), en el distrito de Brooklyn y en los centros de Cité Soleil y Turgeau.
De acuerdo a un mensaje publicado en la página de facebook de la ONG, un niño de tres años fue declarado muerto y las unidades ya están saturadas y los nuevos pacientes deben acudir al Centro de Tratamiento del Cólera.
«Hemos abierto en la capital haitiana unidades de tratamiento de cólera con 10 camas en el distrito de Brooklyn y 20 camas en el centro de emergencia de MSF en Turgeau y un centro de tratamiento de cólera (CTC) con una capacidad de 50 camas en el hospital de MSF en Cité Soleil, a los que se suman puntos de distribución de soluciones de rehidratación oral (SRO)”, explica MSF.
Las autoridades sanitarias haitianas ya habían confirmado el domingo el rebrote de la enfermedad en el país e invitaron a la población a respetar las medidas de higiene para contener la propagación de la enfermedad.
