El Índice de Percepción de la Corrupción (IPC) que publica este martes la ONG Transparencia Internacional (TI) reveló que desde 2017 la lucha contra la corrupción está estancada en las Américas, especialmente en países como Venezuela y Nicaragua que permenecen bajo regímenes autoritarios.
Así, ningún país del continente registró mejoras significativas en los últimos cinco años en la clasificación de TI, que mide la percepción sobre los niveles de corrupción en el sector público en una escala de 0 a 100 (del país más corrupto al más “limpio”
Los países americanos percibidos como menos corruptos en 2022 fueron Canadá (74), Uruguay (74) y Estados Unidos (69), mientras que, en el extremo opuesto de la escala, se situaron Venezuela (14), Haití (17) y Nicaragua (19).
Además, a nivel global, más de dos terceras partes de los 180 países analizados tenían en 2022 un “problema grave” de corrupción y la puntuación media (43 puntos) se ha mantenido sin mejoras por undécimo año consecutivo, según informó la ONG con sede en Berlín.
“Los gobiernos frágiles fallan en su labor de frenar a las redes criminales, el conflicto social y la violencia y algunos exacerban las amenazas para los derechos humanos al concentrar el poder con el pretexto de responder a la inseguridad”, señaló la presidenta de TI, Delia Ferreira Rubio, en relación a las Américas.
