Estados Unidos anunció un proyecto de sanciones para interrumpir las actividades financieras ilícitas de los narcotraficantes implicados en el comercio de fentanilo, indicó este martes la Casa Blanca.
El plan se basa en la Estrategia Nacional de Control de Drogas del Presidente y “ayuda a cumplir su llamamiento del Estado de la Unión para combatir la epidemia de opioides y sobredosis tomando medidas enérgicas contra la producción, venta y tráfico de fentanilo ilícito para ayudar a salvar vidas, proteger la salud pública y mejorar la seguridad pública de nuestras comunidades”, asegura la Casa Blanca en un comunicado de prensa.
Según el texto, las principales drogas responsables de la muerte de estadounidenses son los “opioides sintéticos ilícitos como el fentanilo y sus análogos, que son más fáciles de producir y transportar y también mucho más letales”. “La naturaleza de estas drogas, su facilidad de acceso y su potencia representan una amenaza para la seguridad nacional, la seguridad pública y la salud pública”, agrega la nota de prensa.
