El ministro de Exteriores taiwanés, Joseph Wu, aseguró este martes que las maniobras militares de China alrededor de la isla hacen pensar que “están tratando de prepararse para lanzar una guerra contra Taiwán” y advirtió de que ellos están listos para responder.
“Mire los ejercicios militares y también su retórica. Parecen estar tratando de prepararse para lanzar una guerra contra Taiwán. El Gobierno taiwanés ve la amenaza militar china como algo que no se puede aceptar y lo condenamos”, indicó en una entrevista con la cadena estadounidense CNN.
China culminó este lunes sus maniobras militares alrededor de Taiwán con una simulación del bloqueo de la isla y con la anticipada participación del Shandong, el segundo portaaviones del país asiático y su primero de fabricación nacional.
Beijing ve esas maniobras como necesarias para proteger su soberanía e integridad territorial y emprendió estos últimos movimientos en respuesta a la reunión el pasado miércoles en Los Ángeles (EEUU) entre la presidenta taiwanesa, Tsai Ing-wen, y el presidente de la Cámara de Representantes estadounidense, Kevin McCarthy.
