El Colegio Dominicano de Periodistas, el Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Prensa, la Asociación de Fotoperiodistas y la Asociación de Reporteros Gráficos de la República Dominicana condenaron este miércoles la acción brutal y de violación a la Libertad de Prensa ejercida contra el corresponsal de Telemicro en Monte Cristi, Rafael Metz mientras realizaba un reportaje sobre la extracción de arena del rio.
El corresponsal de Telemicro fue atacado por cinco personas, encapuchados, que se dedicaban a extraer materiales del rio Yaque del Norte y Guayubin.
Aurelio Henríquez, presidente del Colegio Dominicano de Periodistas, solicitó a las autoridades de Medio Ambiente y al Ministerio Público apresar y someter a la justicia a quienes condenaron el hecho.
En el caso de la periodista Nuria Piera, el CDP y demás gremios están en desacuerdo que, en el país, sectores aún desconocidos hayan atacado su teléfono en varias oportunidades desde el 2020 y 2021, en una franca violación a la libertad de prensa con el software espía Pegasus, confirmado por Amnistía Internacional.
Al celebrar hoy 3 de mayo, el día Internacional de la Libertad de Prensa, los periodistas califican de inaceptable estas violaciones al derecho que tienen al ejercer un periodismo libre e independiente.
“Pedimos al presidente Luis Abinader y a la Procuraduría General de la República a iniciar una investigación en estos casos, porque los periodistas no somos terroristas, somos servidores de la sociedad y exigimos respeto en el ejercicio periodístico”, agregaron dichas asociaciones.
