República Dominicana.- Salud Pública informó este miércoles dos nuevos casos de viruela símica, con lo que aumenta a 29 el número de casos confirmados de la enfermedad en República Dominicana.
El ministro Daniel Rivera indicó que los casos corresponden a un paciente masculino de 49 años residente en Santiago y a una femenina de 35 años de San Cristóbal, quienes se encuentran bajo vigilancia domiciliaria porque son casos leves y pueden recibir tratamiento en sus hogares.
El primer caso de viruela del mono se detectó en el país el pasado 6 de julio, ya que dio positivo a la enfermedad un ciudadano dominicano de 25 años de edad procedente de Estados Unidos.
Los síntomas de la enfermedad son similares a los de la ya eliminada viruela, pero algo más leves como fiebre, dolor de cabeza, cansancio y escalofríos con el peculiar sarpullido.
