Una vigilancia de tormenta tropical y huracán están en efecto para partes de la costa este de Canadá ante el avance del huracán mayor Fiona, que se mueve rumbo al norte del Atlántico con vientos máximos sostenidos de 130 millas por hora (215 km/h) y se espera que este jueves pase por las islas Bermudas.
El Centro Nacional de Huracanes (NHC) de EE.UU. informó en su boletín de las 15.00 GMT que el centro de Fiona se sitúa a 410 millas (660 kilómetros) al suroeste de Bermuda y 1.165 millas (1.870 kilómetros) al sur-suroeste de Halifax, en la provincia canadiense de Nueva Escocia.
El Centro de Huracanes de Canadá ha emitido una vigilancia de huracán para Nueva Escocia desde Hubbards hasta Brule, Isla del Príncipe Eduardo y Brule, y de la costa de Newfoundland desde Parson Pond hasta Port-Aux-Basques.
Tiene en efecto además una vigilancia de tormenta tropical desde Saint Andrews al oeste de Hubbards, en Nueva Escocia, y desde el oeste de Brule hasta Cap Madeleine, en Quebec.
El NHC mantiene por su parte un aviso de huracán para el archipiélago de Bermudas. A las 15.00 GMT, Fiona se mueve hacia el nor-noreste alrededor a unas 15 millas por hora (24 km/h).
