China rechazó el sábado la petición de Estados Unidos para una llamada entre el jefe del Pentágono, Lloyd Austin, y su homólogo de China, Wei Fenghe, el día en el que un avión de combate estadounidense derribó un globo chino, anunció el Departamento de Defensa
El sábado «inmediatamente después de tomar medidas para derribar el globo de la RPC, el Departamento de Defensa hizo una solicitud de llamada segura» entre Austin y Wei, afirmó el portavoz del Pentágono, el general Pat Ryder, refiriéndose a la República Popular de China. «Desafortunadamente, la RPC rechazó nuestra petición. Nuestro compromiso de abrir líneas de comunicación continuará», agregó.
«Los vínculos entre nuestros ejércitos son particularmente importantes en momentos como este. Lamentablemente, el Partido Comunista chino rechazó nuestra petición”, agregó Ryder.
En la llamada declinada iba a participar el secretario de Defensa estadounidense, Lloyd Austin.
