Hoy, 12 de abril, es el Día Internacional de los Niños de la Calle, instituido en el 2011 por iniciativa del Consorcio para Niños de la Calle, con el objetivo de: “denunciar la situación de calle que enfrentan millones de niños en todo el mundo, donde se vulneran sus derechos educativos, económicos, sociales y familiares”.
Los niños deben gozar de los siguientes derechos fundamentales: 1) Derecho a la vida, la supervivencia y el desarrollo; 2) Derecho a la educación; 3) Derecho a la alimentación; 4) Derecho a la protección; 5) Derecho a la identidad; 6) Derecho al juego; 7) Derecho a la libre expresión; y 8) Derecho a la familia.
Termino esta nota con un pensamiento del padre Luis Rosario: “Los muchachos de la calle, aunque desafinen, cantan más con el corazón que con la boca”.
