Las autoridades sanitarias danesas informaron que Dinamarca suspendió la vacunación contra la COVID-19 al Gobierno considerar que la enfermedad provocada por el Sars-CoV-2 ya está controlada en el país, convirtiéndose así en el primero del mundo en adoptar esta medida.
Así, a partir del 15 de mayo no se invitará a la gente a vacunarse contra el coronavirus, si bien todos podrán completar el programa de vacunación.
El organismo indicó que actualmente la cantidad de personas inoculadas en Dinamarca es alta y la situación epidémica es favorable, así que por ahora se puede suspender el programa de vacunación. «Ha llegado la primavera y tenemos bien controlada la epidemia, que parece estar en retroceso. Las tasas de hospitalización son estables y también esperamos que bajen pronto», afirmó Bolette Soborg, directora de enfermedades infecciosas de la Autoridad Sanitaria.
«Todavía pueden vacunarse en primavera y verano, y seguimos recomendando la vacunación a las personas con un riesgo especialmente alto de padecer un cuadro grave de la enfermedad», aseveró Soborg. Asimismo, el organismo recomienda recibir la cuarta dosis de la vacuna a los ciudadanos «con un sistema inmunológico muy debilitado», incluidos pacientes con cáncer que se someten a quimioterapia o personas con múltiples enfermedades graves.
Según datos del organismo, en Dinamarca se han inoculado más de 4,8 millones de ciudadanos, de los cuales más de 3,6 millones han recibido la dosis de refuerzo.
