El Gobierno de EEUU acordó con autoridades federales mexicanas apoyar con $130 millones la implementación de una reforma laboral aprobada en México en 2020 en el marco de la renegociación del tratado comercial de Norteamérica (T-MEC), durante la reciente visita de la vicepresidenta Kamala Harris, dijo el presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador. «De parte de ella [Harris] y el Gobierno estadounidense es una prioridad atender a los trabajadores, me lo expresó, se llegó a un acuerdo y estamos trabajando para que se garanticen los derechos de los trabajadores en Canadá, México y EEUU, el anterior tratado no contenía lo laboral», dijo el mandatario en conferencia de prensa.
El gobernante explicó que el interés del gobernante Partido Demócrata que llevó a la Casa Blanca al presidente Joe Biden, cuyo mandato comenzó en enero de 2020, se debe a que «tiene mucha vinculación con los sindicatos». López Obrador admitió que en las relaciones laborales en este país se debe aumentar el salario para abolir la brecha con sus socios de Norteamérica
