Un día como hoy, 29 de julio de 1836, se inauguró el Arco de Triunfo de París, Francia. Se trata de uno de los monumentos más famosos de Francia y el arco más importante del mundo, ordenado por Napoleón Bonaparte para conmemorar la Batalla de Austerlitz (1805) entre Francia y las fuerzas ruso-austríacas.
A propósito de este tema, en San Juan de la Maguana, República Dominicana, hay un arco de triunfo, inaugurado el 1 de enero de 1939, construido con aportes del pueblo con el objetivo de conmemorar las luchas y los triunfos de dicha provincia en su historia, entre ellos la Batalla de Santomé (1855).
