La junta de libertad condicional del estado de Pensilvania (EE.UU.) rechazó la solicitud del comediante estadounidense Bill Cosby de salir de la cárcel antes de cumplir su sentencia de 10 años por un caso de agresión sexual, reporta Reuters. La noticia se dio a conocer este miércoles, aunque la decisión fue tomada el pasado 11 de mayo.
La comisión no aceptó la petición debido a la negativa del reo a participar en un programa de terapia para depredadores sexuales. «Sabíamos que iba a ser rechazado. Me llamó y me dijo que si no hacía el curso, lo rechazarían», comentó la decisión Andrew Wyatt, portavoz del actor.
El actor, de 83 años, habría tenido derecho a salir con antelación el próximo 25 de septiembre, una vez cumplida su pena mínima de tres años. En 2018, el Cosby fue declarado culpable de drogar y agredir sexualmente en 2004 a Andrea Constand, entrenadora de baloncesto de la Universidad de Temple (la ciudad de Filadelfia), tras dejarla inconsciente.
El convicto podrá volver a pedir la libertad condicional solo en caso de que se someta al mencionado curso de terapiau obtenga una recomendación por parte del Departamento estatal de Correcciones, siempre que ostente además un expediente disciplinario sin infracciones.
