El Congreso de Perú autorizó este jueves al presidente Pedro castillo a viajar a Estados Unidos para participar en la IX Cumbre de las Américas, que se celebrará en Los Ángeles entre el 6 y el 10 de junio.
La decisión se tomó con 103 votos a favor, 12 en contra y una abstención del pleno del Legislativo, que autorizó al gobernante a salir del país del 7 al 12 de junio.
La resolución legislativa señaló que Castillo también participará, el 8 y 9 de junio, en la IV Cumbre Empresarial de la Américas y, el 11 de junio, en un encuentro con la comunidad peruana residente en Los Ángeles.
El gobernante solicitó el pasado lunes al Congreso la autorización para participar en la Cumbre, mediante un oficio dirigido a la presidenta del Parlamento, María del Carmen Alva.
Durante el debate de la autorización, la legisladora opositora Norma Yarrow, del partido derechista Avanza País, afirmó que su voto sería por “un rotundo no” porque considera que Castillo debe permanecer en el país para afrontar la crisis económica y las denuncias de corrupción que se han presentado en su contra.
Por su parte, el portavoz del partido ultraderechista Renovación Popular, Jorge Montoya, anunció que su bancada iba a votar en bloque contra la autorización, ya que aseguró que “la situación y la coyuntura política actual no permiten” el viaje del mandatario.
Sin embargo, el portavoz del partido fujimorista Fuerza Popular y presidente de la comisión de Relaciones Exteriores del Congreso, Ernesto Bustamante, enfatizó la importancia de la participación en la Cumbre de las Américas y remarcó que su agrupación sí iba a apoyar el viaje del gobernante.
A su turno, el legislador independiente Enrique Wong, quien es segundo vicepresidente del Congreso, señaló que “es de gran importancia la coordinación con los países que acudan” a la Cumbre y recordó que también estarán presentes los presidentes de Colombia, Chile y México, que integran la Alianza del Pacífico junto a Perú.
