Los fuertes vientos del huracán Nicole, que hizo estragos a su paso por el estado de Florida, desenterraron varios cadáveres en una playa de la isla Hutchinson, pertenecientes, aparentemente, a individuos de pueblos nativos.
La Oficina del Sheriff del condado de Martin, cuyos investigadores inspeccionaron el terreno, anunció que en el lugar quedaron al descubierto seis esqueletos humanos. Como en la misma zona también se ubica un cementerio indígenas, los agentes supusieron que los restos podrían proceder de allí.
Los restos serán trasladados a la Oficina del Médico Forense y luego a la Oficina de Investigación Arqueológica de Florida, señalaron las autoridades en un comunicado, difundido por medios locales.
Ha sido el primer huracán en tocar tierra en EE.UU. en noviembre en casi 40 años. Finalmente, se debilitó a depresión tropical.
