Este miércoles, el hijo del expresidente de Sudáfrica Jacob Zuma, actualmente en prisión, instó a los manifestantes y saqueadores a protestar «responsablemente». También, exigió que su padre sea liberado, tachando su encarcelamiento de «injusto», y pidió el fin de los cierres nacionales para frenar el covid-19.
«La muerte y la destrucción no son una solución. El vandalismo, las amenazas no son una solución», declaró Zuma en un mensaje de video en Instagram, agregando que Sudáfrica «está a una sola masacre» de que la situación se salga completamente de control.
«A las personas que están protestando y saqueando: por favor, háganlo con cuidado y de manera responsable porque no se puede responsabilizar a la gente de defender lo que ama», señaló el hijo del exmandatario, que tiene sus propias ambiciones de gobernar el país.
Duduzane Zuma, señaló que no tolera el comportamiento destructivo de los manifestantes, pero hizo un llamado para entender las «causas fundamentales» de esta conducta, como la pobreza, el hambre, el desempleo y la desigualdad.
«No es de extrañar que esto esté sucediendo», dijo. Según Zuma, los dos factores que provocaron los disturbios en el país son el encarcelamiento de su padre y los cierres anticovid, los cuales, según aseguró, no van a ayudar a controlar la situación actual.
«No nos ayudará señalar con el dedo o crear problemas que nos dividirán. Necesitamos unirnos. Los problemas de la desigualdad, el desempleo y la pobreza son problemas reales, y esto es lo que se está desarrollando en el dominio público», apuntó.
