Taiwán y Eslovaquia han firmado este jueves un acuerdo de cooperación judicial en materia civil y comercial, siendo este el primero de este tipo firmado por el país asiático con un país de la Unión Europea.
El acuerdo de cooperación judicial ha sido suscrito en el edificio del Ministerio de Exteriores taiwanés en presencia del enviado de Eslovaquia en Taiwán, Martin Podstavek y el ministro Exteriores, Joseph Wu, ha informado ‘Taipei Times’.
Wu ha calificado el acuerdo como un «hito extraordinario» que permite a los dos países «cooperar más estrechamente en asuntos judiciales». «Este es el primer acuerdo de este tipo para Taiwán y el quinto acuerdo firmado entre Taiwán y Eslovaquia», ha añadido.
Asimismo, el jefe de la diplomacia de Taiwán ha subrayado que la finalización de este acuerdo «destaca el espíritu democrático y los valores que más aprecia Taiwán», ampliando de ese modo las libertades y los derechos de su pueblo y reforzando los lazos con Europa, según ha recogido la agencia taiwanesa CAN.
Por otra parte, Taiwán ha agradecido al Parlamento Europeo por la aprobación este miércoles del informe sobre Desafíos de seguridad en la Unión Europea y la región del Indo-Pacífico, en el cual se destaca que la UE se opone a cualquier acción unilateral que coaccione y socave el ‘statu quo’ en el Estrecho de Taiwán.
