Al menos ocho personas murieron y 17 resultaron heridas en un ataque con coche bomba que tuvo lugar esta mañana en Mogadiscio, según los primeros informes que trascendieron a las redes sociales.
La policía confirmó también que el objetivo del atentado era el convoy de una empresa de seguridad local que «protege a la ONU».
Se desconoce por el momento si algunos miembros del personal de la ONU resultaron afectados por la explosión.
El atentado fue reivindicado por Al Shabab que envió un terrorista suicida para atacar a un convoy que escoltaba a «oficiales blancos» mientras regresaban de un campo de entrenamiento.
La bomba detonó hacia las 7:30 (GMT+3) cerca de la escuela Mocaasir, cuyos estudiantes y profesores figuran entre las víctimas, y destruyó varias secciones del centro docente.
Al Shabab, que ha jurado lealtad al grupo terrorista Al Qaeda (prohibido en Rusia), ha perpetrado numerosos ataques dirigidos contra las tropas gubernamentales, la Misión de la Unión Africana en Somalia (Amisom) y las operaciones humanitarias de la ONU.
El grupo, que se empeña en imponer en Somalia una versión radical de la ley sharía, también ha reivindicado varios atentados terroristas en los países vecinos del este de África, incluyendo la matanza en el centro comercial Westgate en Nairobi, Kenia, en septiembre de 2013.
