El reciente informe de la Autoridad Europea de Seguridad Alimentaria, el Centro Europeo para la Prevención y el Control de Enfermedades (ECDC) y el Laboratorio de Referencia de la Unión Europea para la Influenza Aviar demuestra que la extensión geográfica del brote no tiene precedentes y afecta a 37 países europeos.
«Afortunadamente, no ha habido infecciones humanas durante los recientes brotes de gripe aviar en la Unión Europea/Espacio Económico Europeo», comunicó Andrea Ammon, directora del ECDC.
«Es vital que los médicos, los expertos de laboratorio y los expertos en salud, tanto en el sector animal como en el humano, colaboren y mantengan un enfoque coordinado», también agregó.
El informe, publicado este 3 de octubre, previene de que ciertos virus que afectan a animales como los cerdos o las aves «pueden infectar ocasionalmente a los humanos y causar enfermedades de leves a muy graves» y pide a la población a estar en alerta.
