Las variantes de Covid-19 se han vuelto casi que innumerables, pues cada vez que el virus se contagia en diferentes organismos puede adquirir nuevas características. Sin embargo, una de estas ha llamado la atención de los científicos que han estudiado el virus desde su surgimiento.
Se trata de una variante que tiene como nombre Ómicron BQ.1, con linaje Q.1.1, que popularmente ha adquirido el nombre de ‘Perro del infierno. Esta variante es más contagiosa y alcanza un porcentaje superior de 10% con respecto a las otras variantes en este aspecto.
La variante adquirió su nombre porque los científicos la compararon con el perro de tres cabezas de la mitología griega, Cancerbero. El perro, que era cuidador de Hades, se encargaba de custodiar las puertas del infierno para que no pudieran entrar personas vivas y las muertas no pudiesen salir.
El Centro Europeo paras el Control y Prevención de Enfermedades (ECDC) ya declaró esta variante como “de interés” para la salud, por lo que en el mundo ya se está nuevamente al tanto de esta nueva variación y los síntomas que tiene.
A pesar de que ha sido una variante ya declarada de interés, tiene los mismos síntomas asociados a otras variantes derivadas desde la aparición de Ómicron. De igual forma, el hecho de que se llame de una forma tan alarmante, no tiene que ver con la gravedad de los casos de contagio, sino con la analogía ya explicada.
¿Qué síntomas tiene?
Según el Centro para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades, los síntomas son muy similares a las subvariantes y al mismo Covid-19:
Fiebre
Escalofríos
Tos
Problemas para respirar
Cansancio
Dolor muscular
Dolor de cabeza
Dolor de garganta
Náuseas
Diarrea
Congestión nasal
