Siguen existiendo amenazas terroristas y de tráfico de drogas desde el territorio de Afganistán. Por eso, la Organización del Tratado de Seguridad Colectiva (OTSC) está trabajando para reforzar sus fronteras meridionales. En primer lugar, la frontera tayiko-afgana, así lo declaró el secretario general de la OTSC, Stanislav Zas.
Según Zas, tras la retirada de las tropas estadounidenses de Afganistán, se ha creado una situación muy difícil y la crisis humanitaria sigue desarrollándose. Según las estimaciones de la ONU, cerca de nueve millones de personas pasan hambre allí, y casi la mitad de la población está desnutrida.
Según Zas, la profundización de esta crisis conducirá inevitablemente a un aumento de la actividad de diversas bandas y grupos terroristas, que también pueden amenazar a los Estados de la Organización del Tratado de Seguridad Colectiva. La OTSC no es una organización humanitaria, señaló Zas, pero al mismo tiempo, «nuestros países apoyan bilateralmente para hacer frente a esta crisis humanitaria».
La Organización del Tratado de Seguridad Colectiva fue creada en 1992 para «reforzar la paz, la seguridad y la estabilidad internacionales y regionales, defendiendo, sobre una base colectiva, la independencia, la integridad territorial y la soberanía de los Estados miembros». La primera misión de las fuerzas de paz de la OTSC se concretó este año, en Kazajistán, luego de 30 años de la fundación de la organización.
