Agentes fronterizos del estado de Nuevo México (sudoeste de Estados Unidos) encontraron esta semana el cadáver de una mujer brasileña que intentaba entrar ilegalmente al país por el desierto.
Los familiares de la víctima informaron que la mujer fallecida se llama Lenilda dos Santos, de 49 años, y añadieron que cruzó la frontera entre Estados Unidos y México con un grupo de amigos pero se quedó atrás porque estaba cansada.
Según el relato de la familia, el grupo había prometido que volvería para ayudarla, pero no fue así, y quedó varada en el desierto sin agua ni comida.
Lenilda dos Santos seguía comunicándose con su familia a través del celular, e incluso les compartía su ubicación. Sin embargo, cuando dejó de responder a los mensajes sus familiares pidieron ayuda a las autoridades de Nuevo México.
