El ministro de Agricultura, Limbert Cruz, informó este viernes que detectaron presencia de la peste porcina africana en otras tres provincias de la República Dominicana.
Las nuevas localidades donde se detectó el virus son Espaillat, Monte Plata y San Pedro de Macorís. Sumándose así a las 11 primeras demarcaciones afectadas por la enfermedad; Sánchez Ramírez, La Vega, Santiago, Hermanas Mirabal, Montecristi, Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, San Juan, el Distrito Nacional, Duarte y Elías Piña.
El ministro de Agricultura insiste en que el consumo de carne de cerdo en el país no ha disminuido tras el brote de la peste. Sin embargo, comercializadores de cerdo afirman que la venta a mermado bastante en sus establecimientos desde que se dio a conocer la actual situación.
Cruz declaró que los técnicos de Agricultura conjuntamente con los cuerpos de seguridad y miembros del Centro de Operaciones de Emergencia realizan labores de contingencia y desinfección en las granjas.
El ministro aseguró que con las medidas que están implementando lograrán salvar la mayoría de la producción porcina a nivel nacional.
Limbert Cruz anunció que a partir del próximo martes empezarán a remunerar económicamente a los criadores que demuestren que sus crías resultaron afectadas por la peste.
Aclaró que la enfermedad altamente contagiosa no se transmite a otros animales ni a los humanos. De igual manera, reiteró que el consumo de carne de cerdo no afecta a las personas, por lo que exhortó a la población comer ese alimento.
