República Dominicana. – Dos de las exitosas operaciones de manejo de pasivos realizadas por la actual administración del Ministerio de Hacienda, que le permitieron al Estado dominicano reducir el servicio de su deuda en más de US$2,200 millones, han sido reconocidas por la prestigiosa revista financiera internacional LatinFinance.
El más reciente reconocimiento fue en la categoría de “Gestión de Responsabilidad Soberana” por la operación de febrero de 2022, con la que se redujo el servicio de la deuda en US$1,100 millones, otorgado en enero en el evento de premiación anual, llevado a cabo en la ciudad de New York,
En 2021, el país también fue galardonado por la operación de manejo de pasivos realizada en junio 2021, considerada la mejor del año por la reputada firma.
Dicha transacción consistió en la recompra de RD$92,427 millones de 11 bonos con vencimientos entre 2022 y 2027, que fueron sustituidos por papeles con vencimientos en 2028 y 2031, con mejores condiciones financieras. Como resultado, el servicio de deuda se redujo en el período de recompra en RD$74,908 millones y su costo disminuyó en 66 puntos básicos del portafolio de bonos en pesos dominicanos.
El ministro de Hacienda, Jochi Vicente, explicó que esas transacciones forman parte de las estrategias que ejecuta la gestión del presidente Luis Abinader para lograr la estabilización y la disminución de las necesidades de financiamiento, al igual que incrementar la valoración de los inversionistas sobre el país.
