La autoridad competente y responsable de registrar a los proveedores de servicios de activos virtuales al Banco de Portugal ha concedido una licencia a Bison Bank para que actúe como el primer banco de criptomonedas en el país.
Según un medio de comunicación portugués el banco ha recibido autorización para lanzar Bison Digital Assets, la empresa específica que llevará a cabo servicios de custodia y cambio de criptomonedas.
Según se informa, se ofrecerá a los clientes un «nuevo y más amplio conjunto de productos y servicios que, en línea con las tendencias de la demanda del mercado en este nuevo segmento, se ajustan a sus necesidades globales presentes en los activos financieros y virtuales», según Sapo.
Al parecer, Bison Digital Assets también se dirigirá a inversionista institucionales de alto poder adquisitivo sin embargo, la empresa aún no ha revelado para qué criptomonedas ofrecerá sus servicios.
En virtud de la regulación del Banco de Portugal, Bison Digital Assets será supervisado por motivos de lucha contra el lavado de dinero y la financiación del terrorismo. El regulador no extiende la supervisión a las áreas prudenciales o de conducta de mercado para los proveedores de servicios de criptomonedas.
Aunque se trata del primer banco de criptomonedas que aterriza en Portugal, no es la primera vez que el país europeo se adentra en la industria de las criptomonedas.
