Este martes, López Obrador, explicó que su Administración no está siguiendo una estrategia de militarización de la seguridad pública, como han denunciado diversas organizaciones de derechos humanos.
A través de un mensaje, emitido desde el Palacio Nacional, con motivo de los primeros 100 días de su tercer año de Gobierno, el mandatario aseguró que las acusaciones de que estamos militarizando al país carecen de toda lógica, y en su mayoría, de la más elemental buena fe.
López O., agregó que no se ha ordenado a las Fuerzas Armadas que hagan la guerra a nadie. No se les ha pedido que vigilen u opriman a la sociedad.
Desde sus primeros pasos en la presidencia, el 1 de diciembre de 2018, López Obrador impulsó la creación de la Guardia Nacional, una «institución policial de carácter civil» que tendría el objetivo de pacificar al país latinoamericano.
Hasta el día de hoy , la Guardia Nacional está conformada, mayoritariamente, por miembros de las Fuerzas Armadas. De los 100.528 elementos que conforman la institución, 59.565 eran policías militares provenientes de la Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (Sedena) y 15.211 fueron adheridos desde la Secretaría de Marina (Semar).
Además de esta composición militar, varias organizaciones de la sociedad civil criticaron la aprobación de un decreto que permitió al mandatario disponer de la Fuerza Armada permanente en tareas de seguridad pública.
