La República Dominicana comenzó formalmente este martes su jornada de vacunación contra la covid-19, durante un acto en el hospital militar Ramón de Lara, el centro que desde que surgió la pandemia ha estado dedicado exclusivamente a alojar pacientes de esta enfermedad.
El coronel Ramón Familia Alcántara, el subdirector de este hospital, fue el primero en ser vacunado, durante un acto que encabezó el presidente de la República, Luis Abinader, menos de doce horas después de que el país recibiera el primer lote de vacunas contra la enfermedad. El ministro de Salud, Plutarco Arias, aplicó la vacuna.
El presidente Luis Abinader, al hablar en el acto, expresó: “Esta pesadilla comienza a terminar. Gracias a todo el apoyo del personal médico de aquí y todo el país que ha tenido grandes bajas, que le ha fallecido muchos miembros, amigos de sus equipos. La República Dominicana les agradecerá siempre”.
