El Ministerio de Salud Pública informó hoy que los casos positivos de COVID-19 continúan bajando, reportándose un promedio de 26 casos diarios en las últimas cinco semanas, lo que representa los indicadores más bajos desde que inició la pandemia.
Explica que el Laboratorio Nacional, por medio a al proceso de secuenciación, observó 34 casos de los cuales sólo uno correspondió a la variante delta, mientras que los restantes fueron a ómicron, lo que refleja que esta variante sigue siendo predominante en los casos detectados a nivel nacional.
El director de Epidemiología, doctor Ronald Skewes, precisó que la predisposición en los indicadores se debe a los esfuerzos que ha hecho el Gobierno Dominicano, mediante el programa de vacunación, proceso que ha contribuido a disminuir el número de contagios y complicaciones por la enfermedad.
“Estamos manejando valores sobre el 1 por ciento y nunca habíamos estado tan bajo desde que inició la pandemia en el país. Este es también un esfuerzo de la sociedad dominicana que se ha acogido a la vacuna que continúa siendo el mayor factor de prevención de la enfermedad, al igual que el lavado de manos y el distanciamiento” destacó.
Skewes dijo que en el día de ayer fueron detectados 105 nuevos casos de coronavirus, según indica el boletín especial epidemiológico número 734 y que la positividad de las últimas cuatro semanas se coloca en 1.08 por ciento.
Destacó que se registran solo 24 camas UCI en ocupación por COVID-19, y que se están atendiendo otros eventos de salud importantes.
