Un piloto y un pasajero murieron la tarde de este sábado al estrellarse, por un aparente fallo mecánico, la avioneta en la que volaban, en un hecho ocurrido en el municipio Montellano de la provincia de Puerto Plata.
Los fallecidos fueron identificados como José Nilton Vasconselos, de 57 años de edad, piloto comercial de nacionalidad estadounidense, licencia #2737900, mientras que la otra víctima es el también norteamericano de origen dominicano, Ofinis Hernández Placencia, de 34, quien iba como pasajero y murió más tarde mientras recibía atenciones de emergencia en un centro médico de Puerto Plata.
El accidente aéreo fue próximo al Aeropuerto Gregorio Luperón, donde tenía previsto aterrizar la avioneta privada matrícula N210DE con ruta según la aplicación de rastreo de vuelos Flightware, salió a las 12:44 p.m. desde el aeropuerto ejecutivo OPA-LOCKA (MIAMI, FL) con llegada a las 5: 15 p.m al aeropuerto Gregorio Luperón de Puerto Plata.
