El país se dirige a ser la sede de la próxima Cumbre de las Américas dentro de cuatro años tras recibir el apoyo este jueves en la reunión ministerial del Grupo de Revisión de la Implementación de Cumbres (GRIC).
Estados Unidos, expresó su apoyo para que el país caribeño acoja el evento; este apoyo fue dado por el secretario de Estado de Estados Unidos, Antony Blinken.
“Estados Unidos apoya totalmente la oferta”, dijo Blinken, en el inicio del encuentro que se realiza en el marco de la 52 Asamblea General de la Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA) en la ciudad de Lima, Perú.
“Hacemos un reconocimiento especial al gobierno de Estados Unidos de América por iniciar el proceso de cumbres y haberlo mantenido vigente en el tiempo. Continuaremos colaborando estrechamente con Estados Unidos por cumplir con los compromisos asumidos en la novena cumbre”, expresó Roberto Álvarez, ministro de Relaciones Exteriores dominicano.
