El ministro para la Defensa de Venezuela, Vladimir Padrino López, ha reconocido este sábado el secuestro de ocho soldados venezolanos que fueron capturados en las acciones de combate hace más de 20 días en el estado de Apure tras una emboscada tendida por grupos disidentes de la guerrilla de las FARC.
Padrino López ha señalado que el 9 de mayo recibieron «una fe de vida» de los militares secuestrados y, ante esta situación, denuncian el rapto «ante la comunidad internacional, ante los organismos multilaterales y las organizaciones de derechos humanos», a la vez que exigen a los captores «la preservación de sus vidas e integridad física».
«Hemos establecido los contactos conducentes a su pronta liberación, y la Cancillería de la República efectúa coordinaciones con el Comité Internacional de la Cruz Roja para que sirva de enlace en la entrega de nuestros hermanos combatientes», ha declarado el ministro en un comunicado. «No escatimaremos ningún esfuerzo y agotaremos todas las vías posibles para recuperarlos sanos y salvos», ha agregado.
Los combates entre grupos irregulares colombianos y la Fuerza Armada Nacional Bolivariana (FANB) continúan en la zona fronteriza del estado venezolano de Apure y el departamento colombiano de Arauca desde el 21 de marzo.
La captura de los militares venezolanos confirmada este sábado por Caracas se produjo el 23 de abril, según detalló la facción disidente de las FARC en una carta enviada a la Cruz Roja Internacional.
