Un tribunal español dictaminó que el empresario británico-estadounidense John McAfee, fundador de la compañía de antivirus que lleva su nombre, se suicidó, según un documento judicial citado por Reuters. De esta forma se pone fin a la investigación sobre su muerte y el fallo no puede ser apelado ante una corte ordinaria.
McAfee, quien lanzó el primer software antiviruscomercial del mundo en 1987, fue encontrado muerto el 23 de junio de 2021 en su celda de la cárcel Brians 2, en Sant Esteve Sesrovires (Barcelona), pocas horas después de que la Audiencia Nacional española autorizara su extradición a EE.UU., país que lo requería para ser juzgado por acusaciones relacionadas con la evasión de impuestos.
La familia de McAfee había presentado un recurso solicitando una investigación más profundasobre su muerte, aunque la autopsia ya había determinado que se había suicidado.
¿Qué dice el fallo?
«No existe ni un solo elemento de sospecha, de acusación contra un tercero, de conducta criminal», dice el fallo, fechado el 24 de julio y publicado este viernes.
El cuerpo de McAfee se encuentra en una morgue de Barcelona a la espera de que se resuelva el proceso judicial.
