La empresa TEPCO, pidió este lunes a la población japonesa que ahorre energía a partir de mañana en vista de que a partir de la fecha se puedieran dificultar los suministros.
«TEPCO trata de garantizar suministros estables de energía, pero a partir del 22 de marzo se pueden dificultar los suministros», dice el comunicado en la web de la empresa.
TEPCO facilita electricidad a nueve de las 47 prefecturas de Japón, incluido Tokio y sus alrededores. Según el informe, existe la posibilidad de que la oferta no cumpla con la demanda en breve.
El problema se debe a que la empresa no logra recuperar plenamente las funciones de centrales térmicas suspendidas después del terremoto del 16 de marzo.
Además, se pronostica un clima frío en las áreas, con lluvia fría, nieve, por lo que el consumo de electricidad aumentará.
TEPCO llama a la población a apagar la luz y equipos de calefacción al salir de la habitación, y a cerrar las puertas y ventanas completamente para no permitir que se escape el calor.
Además, la empresa ya solicitó introducir cambios en el trabajo de las fábricas para evitar apagones.
La compañía ya aborda con el Ministerio de Economía, Comercio e Industria la posibilidad de imponer medidas más rigurosas para ahorrar electricidad.
Un sismo de magnitud 7,4 sacudió el miércoles 16 de marzo a las 23.36 hora local (14.36 GMT) el Océano Pacífico cerca de Fukushima.
