El embajador de Venezuela ante Corea del Norte, William Izarra, falleció la noche del 1 de octubre, informó el canciller de la nación sudamericana, Félix Plasencia.
“Lamentamos el sensible fallecimiento del comandante William Izarra, embajador de Venezuela ante la República Popular Democrática de Corea y ex viceministro para Asia. Un ser humano a carta cabal, patriota y militante comprometido. Nuestras condolencias a sus familiares y amigos”, señaló Plasencia.
El Gobierno venezolano no ofreció detalles sobre las causas del fallecimiento de su diplomático, de 74 años de edad.
El presidente Nicolás Maduro lamentó la muerte del embajador, a quien calificó como compañero de la lucha revolucionaria.
“Mi más profundo pesar por la partida física de William Izarra, un gran compañero de lucha revolucionaria, leal e inteligente, amigo de nuestro comandante Hugo Chávez. Envío mis sentidas condolencias a sus familiares, allegados y amigos.
¡Hasta la Victoria Siempre William!”, indicó.
Izarra ocupaba el cargo de embajador desde mayo de este año.
