El Congreso de Perú avaló este viernes reconsiderar el adelanto de elecciones generales para este año. La decisión del presidente de la Comisión de la Constitución, Hernando Guerra, se aprobó en el Pleno con 78 votos a favor, 34 en contra y 7 abstenciones, tras un largo debate de cuatro horas.
Así pues, los próximos comicios serían este año y no para abril del 2024, como se aprobó en diciembre pasado.
Tras la aprobación, el presidente del Congreso, José Williams, abrió de inmediato el debate de la eventual nueva fecha para los comicios, que Guerra planteó que se celebren en octubre próximo.
El proyecto presentado indica que en esa fecha se elija a un nuevo presidente y dos vicepresidentes, además de 130 congresistas y cinco representantes al Parlamento, con una eventual segunda vuelta presidencial a inicios de diciembre.
