El Departamento de Estado de EEUU confirmó el aplazamiento de la visita del secretario de Estado, Antony Blinken, a China por la situación con el globo avistado sobre EEUU el 2 de febrero.
«El secretario de Estado estaba listo para viajar a Pekín esta noche», declaró a la prensa un alto funcionario del Departamento de Estado en una sesión informativa telefónica.
Además, el funcionario agregó: «Tomamos nota de la declaración de la República Popular China en la que expresan su pesar, pero la presencia de este globo en nuestro espacio aéreo es una clara violación de la soberanía y del derecho internacional».
Este 3 de febrero, el Departamento de Defensa de EEUU detectó un globo de vigilancia chino sobre el norte del país, aclarando al mismo tiempo que no representa ninguna amenaza. A este respecto, Washington se comunicó con funcionarios de Pekín.
