El líder ultraderechista viajó a Orlando el 30 de diciembre pasado, dos días antes de que el progresista Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva lo sucediera en la Presidencia, y, aunque había dicho que se tomaría unos pocos días de descanso, está gestionando una visa nueva para poder permanecer por más tiempo en EE.UU., según reconoció su hijo.
