El embajador de Rusia en Estados Unidos, Anatoli Antónov dijo en un comunicado que ha denunciado la decisión de la Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA) por suspender a Rusia como su observador permanente y calificó la decisión de «grave error».
Asimismo, Antónov declaró que no se le permitió hablar durante la reunión de la OEA cuando se llevó a cabo una votación para suspender el estatus de Rusia como observador permanente.
«Durante la reunión especial sobre este tema, a Rusia, como observador permanente de la Organización, se le negó la oportunidad de hablar en la reunión antes y después de votar sobre el documento», señaló.
Los resultados de la votación fueron 25 a favor de suspender el estatus ruso versus 0 en contra, con 8 abstenciones y una nación (Nicaragua) ausente.
Hasta el momento de la publicación de reporte, Sputnik no obtuvo una respuesta de la OEA a su solicitud de comentarios sobre por qué no se le permitió hablar a Antónov.
