El yuan chino se ha convertido en la segunda moneda más presente en las reservas internacionales del Banco Central de Brasil tras desbancar al euro.
Según un informe publicado el pasado 31 de marzo por el Banco Central brasileño, esta divisa, que no tenía presencia en las reservas internacionales brasileñas en 2018, ha alcanzado ya el 5,3%.
China y Brasil llegaron a un acuerdo a principios de este año para establecer de medidas que facilitasen el comercio y las inversiones bilaterales con sus respectivas divisas y reducir así el uso del dólar.
La secretaria de Asuntos Internacionales del ministerio de Hacienda brasileño, Tatiana Rosito, destacó que la medida se da en un escenario de creciente influencia de la economía china y la internacionalización del yuan.
China, que disputa la hegemonía económica con Estados Unidos y busca reducir la dependencia del dólar, tiene acuerdos similares con Rusia, y con Argentina en América Latina, entre otros.
Sin embargo, el dólar sigue siendo la principal moneda en las arcas brasileñas con un 80,4%. El euro ha pasado a representar el 4,7%.
El Banco Central de Brasil se ha propuesto como objetivo aumentar su exposición al yuan y ampliar sus reservas de oro.
China es el principal socio comercial de Brasil. El comercio bilateral registró un récord de USD 150.500 millones en 2022, con exportaciones brasileñas por USD 89.700 millones.
Actualmente China es el principal comprador de mineral de hierro, soja, carne, azúcar y celulosa exportada por Brasil, según la agencia china de noticias Xinhua.
