Al menos seis personas perecieron el 1 de febrero por la noche durante el golpe de Estado fallido en Guinea-Bisáu, informó la agencia Lusa, citando fuentes militares.
«Seis personas murieron en un tiroteo que tuvo lugar en el palacio gubernamental en Guinea-Bisáu durante un intento de golpe de Estado», reza el medio.
Un grupo de hombres vestidos de civil y armados con fusiles de asalto y lanzagranadas atacaron el 1 de febrero la casa de Gobierno en la capital de Bisáu, mientras se celebraba una reunión del Сonsejo de Ministros a la que asistían altos cargos del Estado.
El presidente del país africano, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, sostuvo que el tiroteo duró cinco horas y dejó «muchos muertos» y agregó que él mismo está bien, y la situación en la ciudad está bajo control.
Por otra parte, desde la Embajada de Rusia en Bisáu comunicaron que primero los rebeldes tomaron como rehén al mandatario de la República pero tras un feroz intercambio de disparos se logró recuperarlo y llevarlo bajo fuerte vigilancia al palacio presidencial.
