El Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI), anunció el miércoles que suspenderá los fondos para Afganistán debido a la incertidumbre sobre la situación del gobierno en Kabul luego de la toma de los talibanes.
El Fondo ha tomado medidas similares antes, cuando parte de sus miembros no reconocen al gobierno de un país, como en el caso de Venezuela.
El FMI tiene 190 países miembros que están divididos sobre Afganistán.
Canadá ya ha anunciado que no reconocerá a los talibanes. Francia ha enumerado cinco condiciones previas. Rusia, China y Turquía saludaron las primeras declaraciones públicas de los insurgentes.
El FMI debía liberar un tramo final de ayuda a Kabul en el marco de un programa aprobado el 6 de noviembre de 2020 por un monto total de 370 millones de dólares.
