Irán detecto este martes el primer caso de viruela del mono caso de viruela del mono, informó el ministerio de Sanidad.
«El caso ha sido identificado en una mujer de 34 años a partir de la observación de sus lesiones cutáneas», anunció en un comunicado el portavoz del ministerio, Pedram Pakaeen.
«La paciente, que vive en Ahvaz (suroeste) ha sido puesta inmediatamente en cuarentena», añadió, sin precisar cómo se había contagiado.
Los primeros síntomas de la viruela del mono son fiebre alta, ganglios linfáticos hinchados y una erupción cutánea similar a la varicela.
Según el último balance de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), se han registrado 31.665 casos y 12 fallecimiento en el mundo por esta afección.
La OMS activó su máximo nivel de alerta a finales de julio para tratar de contener el brote de esta enfermedad.
