Por los homicidios de siete periodistas ocurridos en las primeras 12 semanas de 2022, autoridades han detenido y vinculado a proceso a 16 presuntos homicidas.
Al presentar el informe de “Impunidad Cero”, el subsecretario de Seguridad, Ricardo Mejía, informó que hasta ahora por los homicidios de Armando Linares y José Luis Gamboa, no hay detenciones, sin embargo, se mantienen las investigaciones para dar con los responsables.
“Al momento, se cuenta con 16 detenidos, de los cuales 16 están vinculados a proceso penal. Únicamente, en el caso de José Luis Gamboa no hay detenciones, que fue un evento del pasado 10 de enero, pero vamos a continuar trabajando para que pueda haberlos a la brevedad. Y el caso reciente de hace dos días de Armando Linares, pero ya (están) identificados los autores materiales”, explicó.

El homicidio de periodistas y las constantes amenazas a su labor han generado críticas desde el exterior, desde Estados Unidos, el secretario de Estado, Antony Blinken, calificó como “preocupante” las constantes amenazas y pidió más protección para los comunicadores.
El Parlamento de la Unión Europea (UE) también condenó las amenazas, el acoso y el asesinato de periodistas y defensores de los derechos humanos en el país.
“Los que no nos ven con buenos ojos dicen, estaba yo leyendo un mensaje, de que están hartos de que yo diga de que estos lamentables hechos, estos crímenes no tienen que ver con el Estado, pero no me voy a cansar de decirlo porque esa es la diferencia. Antes, los crímenes tenían que ver con el Estado, el violador principal de los derechos humanos era el Estado; ahora no es así”, afirmó el secretario del parlamento de la Unión Europea.
